Topic Overview

Bioinformatics and health informatics are the most essential research topic in the latest decade. USA government has approved “Human Genome Project”, “Precision Medicine Initiative”, and “National Microbiome Initiative”, which are deeply dependent on bioinformatics and health informatics research.

Bioinformatics and health informatics are interdisciplinary sciences, which involve bioelectronics, computer science, genetics, medicine, etc. In recent years, the dropping price of sequencing has boosted the related research. Analysis and prediction in silico become popular for human health. Techniques like evolutionary reconstruction and targets prediction are largely invovled in recent bioinformatic researches.

This special issue aims to help advance the development of bioinformatics and health informatics research on theories, algorithms and applications. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

Next generation sequencing analysis techniques;

Biological structure and network analysis;

Proteomics and functional genomics;

Deep learning and application in bioinformatics and health informatics;

Computational approaches in precision medicine;

Digital health and wisdom medical works;

Bioelectronics and its related issues.
